Orchard CMS

Tags: Orchard

Recently I have had the opportunity to give the new CMS system that Microsoft are building a test drive… and I must say… interesting stuff. The new open source CMS is built in ASP.net MVC which trumps the webforms model in terms of accessibility and web standards.

I urge you to take a look. http://orchard.codeplex.com

Nicholas, I am new to Orchard but I have to say I took your advice and like it very much so far. Do you happen to know if there is a module for a phot viewer? I am a developer and plan to extend the base application myself. However, due to a coming baby I am hoping to find a photo viewer I can start with to add to the great blogging functionality. Great blog by the way. Ryan

Hi Ryan, Fantastic news about moving your blog across to Orchard, and even more fantastic news on you child, congratulations. First off, I am sorry about the late reply, I am waiting for Orchard to finish the module to send emails when a comment has been added. So your looking for a photo gallery huh.. Well, I haven't seen one developed for Orchard as a module in it's self, though I have done something where I put a list of images on a page and apply a jquery.galleria javascript file over the top to make it look really cool - A site I started developing for a friend uses that and look quite nice. Do you have any ideas on how you would like it to look? If so and you want a hand, let me know, I could help you at least start it.... Cheers, Nick
